Joint Degree Programs of The School of Management & The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering
Interdisciplinary study is important to The School of Management’s curriculum, and that´s fully expressed in the joint degree programs offered with The Erik Jonnson School of Engineering. Your career goals may bridge academic disciplines and require expertise in more than one area.
The joint degree programs allow students to combine any of the following with the Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Master of Science in Accounting and Information Management (MS-AIM)
- Master of Science in Management and Administrative Sciences (MS-MAS)
- Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MS-ITM)

Joint Degree Programs
The Master of Business Administration and the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
The joint MBA/MSEE degrees are obtained by completing a minimum of 68 credit hours beyond prerequisite courses, to consist of a minimum of 24 credit hours of electrical engineering courses and a minimum of 44 credit hours of management courses. For the MSEE degree within the joint degree program, instead of taking all 21 elective credit hours in the EE program, only 12 elective credit hours need to be taken in EE and a maximum of 9 credit hours from the approved list of management courses available in the engineering advising office can be used towards the MSEE degree. To receive the MBA in the joint degree program, of the 24 elective hours required for the MBA degree, a maximum of nine credit hours from the EE program will be counted towards the MBA degree as electives only.
Masters Degrees and the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
To complete the combined degree program, 9 credit hours of approved electives from management will count toward the MSEE degree and 9 credit hours of engineering electives will count toward the management degree as elective courses. Students are required to meet all other core and elective requirements for the MSEE and MS or MA degrees to obtain the combined degree.
All students must have a graduate advisor in the electrical engineering department and a graduate advisor in the School of Management who will advise on the respective programs and approve a degree plan. The engineering advising office will provide a detailed listing of approved management courses. Courses taken without advisor approval may not count towards the required credit hours. No degree will be awarded until the completion of all requirements and the 68 credit hours for the joint MBS/MSEE program or 51 credit hours for the joint MSEE/MS or MA degrees. If a student chooses at a later time to pursue only one of the two degree programs, the student should again seek admission into the degree program of his choice and satisfy the requirements of that degree program.
