Degree Plan
The Master of Science in Information Technology & Management is designed to bridge the gap between the information technologist and the business professional. By providing a technology intensive program with a business focus, the program will produce graduates who can play significant roles within organizations in helping them apply information technology to business problems and create efficient and effective solutions. The degree is obtained by completing the program course requirements of 36 credit hours beyond all prerequisites. Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on all graduate coursework and a 3.0 grade point average in the basic business core to qualify for graduation and to remain in good standing.
The classes for this degree are largely offered in the evening. The following concentrations are offered:
- Information Technology Management and Consulting
- E-Business Information Technology
- Telecommunications Management
Prerequisites
Prerequisite knowledge in calculus and competence in personal computing are requirements for the program. A deficiency in calculus may be remedied by taking MATH 5304 (Applied Mathematical Analysis for Non Majors I), or MATH 1325 (with a B or better). Competence in personal computing may be demonstrated by completing BA 3351 with a grade of B or better, or by completing an equivalent course at another university with a grade of B or better. Degree credit is not earned for program prerequisites. Deficiencies must be remedied during the first twelve credit hours of the graduate program.
Required Foundation Courses, Concentration Courses and Electives
In addition to completing 9 hours of basic business core courses, students enrolling in the MS-ITM program will also need to complete the IT foundation courses, the required concentration courses and sufficient electives to finish the 36 credit hour requirement for their chosen concentration within the MS-ITM degree. Students must choose and follow one concentration plan.
