Master of Science in Management and Administrative Sciences, Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship consists of a sequence of five foundation courses (15 hours) and focuses on the processes of innovation and new venture development in entrepreneurial firms, including opportunity identification and evaluation, financing, strategy, marketing, and new venture management. Emphasizing technological innovation in both large and small organizations, this multidisciplinary sequence of courses seeks to prepare students for successful careers either as principals or key functional managers in emerging growth firms, or as leaders of technological innovation in established firms.

The courses in this concentration provide depth in entrepreneurial strategy, marketing, finance, operations management, and business plan development, with an emphasis on technology-based innovation in large and small organizations. Recommended electives provide opportunities for students with particular interests to explore a functional area more thoroughly.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite knowledge in calculus and competence in personal computing are requirements for the program. A deficiency in calculus may be remedied by taking MATH 5304 (Applied Mathematical Analysis for Non Majors I), or MATH 1325 (with a B or better). Competence in personal computing may be demonstrated by completing BA 3351 with a grade of B or better, or by completing an equivalent course at another university with a grade of B or better. Degree credit is not earned for program prerequisites. Deficiencies must be remedied during the first twelve credit hours of the graduate program.
